Yup that title is correct... just keep reading, you'll understand. Once again Horton's Choice played at the world famous Mike's Sports Bar, in Charlottetown. Mikes is known for its wild crowds, and tonight was no exception. With some fans who were screaming requests to the locals who had other ideas. The band started their set and Steve was approached by one of the members of the audience rudely demanded that the sound be turned down... they soon turned the sound up and continued to play!!
Everyone except "Johnny Rude Boy" was loving it. They whipped through some ol' favourites as well as some newer ones, including the Rancid cover "Ruby Soho". Soon another member of the crowd screamed that the band should make a new song on the spot. The band, always thinking of the fans, made an improv on the spot, which sounded great...they later named the Song Suzanna, and hope to record it in the future (please do not write asking about this. It will not make any sense to you, unless you were at Mike's).
In between sets , the crowd was treated to some acoustic melodies from the fingers of Rob MacIssac. After he finished his set he was treated to a warm reception by the crowd before giving way to the second set for Horton's Choice.
They started with a new one "21st Century Digital Boy" by Bad Religion and after Steve showed Julie the chords, they played it in fine style! I hope to see this tune again in the future! Finishing with "An Open Letter To God" the night was not over by far. We were packing the gear into the van, when an extremely "drunken soldier" (he was actually not a soldier, simply a form of speech) came "walking" up the stairs into the night. He proceeded towards a truck, and got in... Being the swift thinking crew that they are, they run to the nearby police station to report the drunken driver incident, while Rob checked out the plate number, Julie and I stayed on the scene to watch where he would go.
As they came out of the station he was pulling away, as were the 2 police cruisers on their way to a sweet bust!! So there you have it, a "rockin' band" by day, and Super Heroes by night!! for more life saving tunes, check out their next show, perhaps they will save your life...
P.S. we saw a really big bug!...Honest ...it was huge!!
