Why is a “Liberal Arts degree” is called “Liberal”. I had wondered if and how it might be related to political liberalism. It turns out, it’s not.
According to the Wikipedia, the Liberal Arts are so called because:
In classical antiquity, the liberal arts denoted the education proper to a free man (Latin: liberus, “free”), unlike the education proper to a slave.
I did not know that.
Ironic, considering that today’s crop of liberal arts graduates will be taxed well over 50% in their lifetime*, while constantly threatened with prosecution and the rape cages for literally thousands of victimless “crimes” against the state.
*assuming they can find a job in the central-bank-assassinated market.
heh heh
Rape cages? ROFL.
Yes, this is why someone like George Jonas is often called “conservative,” but self-identifies as a “classical liberal,” meaning liberty is his chief concern. (And before anyone clicks that link, Jonas is a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor, so I believe he makes Gestapo comparisons advisedly.)
