  1. Matt, you are a tease and a hyundai owner (I wouldn’t be surprised it KJB had a hyundai of his own).

  2. Yes, he was teasing. And that has to be a little frustrating, so let me clear some things up:

    1) This past weekend Matt Dorrell and I entered the 3-Day Novel Contest. Together.

    2) We finished a short novel called The Rash. Barely.

    3) An excerpt can be found now at Forget Magazine.

    4) We both slipped a little into madness during the process.

    5) Most of the mistakes, and the reasons we will not win or get even close, are my fault.

    6) Matt Dorrell, as if there were any doubt, is an amazing writer of staggering talent. It was one of the great pleasures of my life thus far to watch that talent and work with it so closely. Lean on it, really.

6)I have never even been in a Hyundai.

  3. The second 6) should be 7), of course.

Which, if you think about it, kind of makes 5) easier to believe.

    No?

  4. Putting a few rumours to rest:

    1) If Kent is indeed responsible for most of the mistakes, and I find this unlikely, it is due only to the fact that he is a madman. He is a lunatic capable of writing incredible volumes of words in ridiculously small amounts of time, and without his prodigious output The Rash novel would have been a pathetic and measly little thing, not fit to claim the title of novel which it so tenuously clings to even now. Not to mention the fact that entering the contest, inventing the concept behind The Rash, and preventing me from abandoning ship in an exhausted snit midway through the process, are all monumental achievements which rest largely, if not entirely, on Kent’s broad shoulders.

    2) I was recently complaining, as I often (at great volume and length) do, that chapter 3 of The Rash, currently excerpted on Forget is not one of my favourites. And there it is, on Forget. Thanks, yo.

    2) Beginning and finishing a novel in three days is one of the most rewarding and exhausting things I have ever done, and is infinitely better for having a co-conspirator. Thanks, yo.

    3) I do own a Hyundai, and so far the best thing about it is that its lack of a CD player has rekindled my love for AC/DC (specifically their live album, which I have on tape and recently found under a bed at my mother’s house). This may sounds like faint praise, but AC/DC live is astounding. Honest.

  5. It’s true. He is talented. Can’t link worth a shit (try either of the forget links above and see). Outside of writing/editing he’ barely qualified to open doors. But, yeah, talented, yeah.

  6. you know who writes a novel in three days? faggots. thats who. people like doorbell and assface.

i gave a small child the shaking of his life this weekend. and what praise do i get? none. it’s all about those fuckers and thier worlds shortest novel.
