This happens to me all the time, I hope I'm not the only one.
I run Win2k and when I type sentances, I like to capitalize the first letter. I do this by holding shift then typing a letter. Sadly, I often start typing without thinking, so I'll hold down shift, and muse my first word. Well, Win2k assumes I am crippled and can't type properly and boinks up this fine message:
Boo!

You can turn that off.
Go to the Control Panel and select Accessibility Options. Under the Keyboard tab, hit Settings in each section and uncheck the Use Shortcut checkbox.
You can also make sure that these settings will apply to any new users you create by going to the General tab and checking the box at the very bottom.

Thanks Adam, I'll do that this minute. I tend to forget about this problem for weeks at a time, until it strikes again. But since you gave me directions, you took away my excuse of "It takes longer to figure out than it takes to hit cancel". You've rescued me from apathy.<P><P>As for you Steve, I find 'Rainy Day' to be soothing.

what I did:
check the box, and then hit cancel...never came back
this also happens when you hit shift 5 or more times in a row (reasonably quickly). To disable just do the same thing
