QWERTY, Cut, & Paste

Speaking of behemoths, Microsoft introduces a keyboard with the long overdue Copy, Cut, and Paste keys. A Microsoft Word key is lame, but anyone who has done the Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V a hundred times knows that the pinky and index finder were not meant to be that far from each other for any length of time.

I know this is please our good friend Dan James (despite what this photo may lead you to think, Dan does not play hockey). He’s been ranting about Cut & Paste keys for years. Also, Microsoft’s keyboards are the most spill resistant I have every seen. Very clever engineering.

  1. Gee. No wonder you’re pleased. The ‘control’ key is way the hell at the end of the keyboard! What long fingered freak thought that up? Of course on Mac keyboards, we have the ‘command’ key which is snugly beside the ‘c’ and ‘v’ keys. Umm. How quaint.

  2. Ok. What I want is a keyboard with the same layout as the original Microsoft Natural (inverted T for arrow keys, not that pissy “diamond” layout), cut and paste buttons are optional — I don’t mind X,C & V… I guess guitar playing helps the left hand pinky dexterity… but I want this thing wireless (not IR, bluetooth)

  3. Interesting note:

QWERTY is the only word in the english language that has a ‘Q’ whithout a ‘U’ beside it.

And no, ‘Iraq’ is not part of the english language.

  4. I followed Nick’s link to the definiton of “qat”.
    This is the definition given:

    The definition of qat is:
qat qats QAT n pl. -S kat”

    What the?

  5. on another note about keyboards, the belkin natural ones are pretty sweet, even though they contain an annoying power key in the upper right corner (resulting in a few accidental powerdowns), but it is easily ripped out (this may void your warranty…heh )
